Allevyn Tracheostomy Dressing comes with a Keyhole aperture which allows the dressing to fit neatly around a tracheostomy tube or other drain or stoma. This tracheostomy dressing comes in pink color and features a waterproof outer film layer. It prevents maceration and helps maintain the condition of the skin in the peristomal area. Allevyn's breathable OPSITE film forms the outer surface of the dressing, preventing leakage of secretions through the front of the dressing, providing an easy-clean surface, and acting as a barrier to liquids.

Instructions to use Allevyn Tracheostomy Dressing

 

  • Application -
    • Cleanse the wound in accordance with normal procedures.
    • Prepare and clean the skin surrounding the tracheostomy tube by removing excess moisture.
    • Fit the Allevyn dressing around the stoma or tracheostomy tube.
    • Apply the white, patterned surface of the dressing toward the patients neck
    • If required, the dressing may be cut to shape.
    • Additional fixation, such as Opsite Flexigrid Transparent Film Dressing or Hypafix Non-Woven Adhesive Dressing Sheet may be used to secure the dressing.
    • During the early stages of treatment, the tracheostomy site should be inspected frequently.
    • Allevyn Tracheostomy Non-Adhesive Apertured Hydrocellular dressings can be left in place undisturbed for up to 7 days, or until exudate is visible and approaches 3/4" from the edge of the dressing.
  • Removal - Remove the retention dressing or bandage and lift the dressing away from the wound.

  • Allevyn Dressing should not be reused
  • Do not use dressings with oxidizing agents such as hypochlorite solutions or hydrogel peroxide, as these can break down the absorbent polyurethane component of the dressing
