Can pessaries be uncomfortable or painful?

It is recommended that you remove the pessary daily to clean it using a mild soap and water. However, if you have difficulty removing your pessary, contact your healthcare professional and make an appointment for removal and cleansing. A pessary, however, can stay in place for 4-12 weeks.
