ConvaTec Non Adhesive Foam Dressing Features

A waterproof top layer that permits evaporation of excess moisture while protecting against viral/bacterial penetration, allowing the patient to shower and bath.
A soft, absorbent foam pad enhances patient comfort and absorbs excess fluid.
A Hydrofiber layer with ionic silver that gels on contact with wound fluid and helps provide an optimal environment for wound healing.
A gentle silicone adhesive that provides secure, skin-friendly adhesion, easy removal, and demonstrated low potential for dermal irritation or allergic contact sensitization.

How Hydrofiber Technology Works?

Hydrofiber Technology is a soft, absorbent material that transforms into a gel on contact with wound fluid.
The gelling action creates an optimal environment for wound healing.

Leg ulcers, pressure ulcers (stage II-IV), and diabetic ulcers.
Surgical wounds (post-operative, donor sites, dermatological).
Partial-thickness (second-degree) burns.
Traumatic or surgical wounds left to heal by secondary intention, such as dehisced surgical incisions.
Surgical wounds heal by primary intent, such as dermatological and surgical incisions (e.g., orthopedic and vascular).
Local management of wounds prone to bleeding, such as wounds that have been mechanically or surgically debrided and donor sites.
Painful wounds.
Abrasions.
Lacerations.
Minor cuts.
Minor scalds and burns.

Always ensure the skin surrounding the wound is clean and dry. Choose a dressing size and shape to ensure that the central absorbent pad (area within the adhesive window) is 1 cm larger than the wound area.
Additional tape, or other means of fixation, will be required to secure the Aquacel Foam non-adhesive dressing. The dressing can be cut to shape for convenience. If the adhesive dressing is cut, the additional tape may be required to secure it in place.
Remove the dressing from the sterile pack, minimizing finger contact with the wound contact surface and the adhesive surface.
Remove the release liner if using the adhesive dressing.
Hold the dressing over the wound and line up the center of the dressing with the center of the wound. Place the pad directly over the wound. For the adhesive dressing, smooth down the adhesive border.
Additional tape or other fixation means will be required to secure the non-adhesive dressing. Discard any unused portion of the product after dressing the wound.

First, always thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water.
Apply sterile saline or sterile water to the underside of the dressing.
A sterile swab moistened with sterile saline can help with this procedure if needed.
When the dressing is completely loose, gently lift it off the wound bed.

The pad on the adhesive dressing should slightly exceed the wound area.
Lightly exuding wounds may require gently moistening the wound with sterile water or saline.
Apply an Aquacel dressing that is slightly larger than the wound area.
Non-adhesive bandages should be covered with a sterile secondary dressing to keep the bandage in place.
Adhesive bandages should not have any border areas in contact with the wound.
Heavy exuding wounds should use an absorbent dressing pad and may require daily changes.
As the wound heals and less exudate occurs, a thinner pad or film dressing that retains moisture may be necessary to prevent the wound from drying out too quickly.
Aquacel dressing construction has significant strength even when significantly wet to remove from a wound in one piece.
If necessary, irrigation with water or sterile normal saline may help remove the dressing.
