What to buy with 3M Medipore Pad?

How to Use 3M Medipore Adhesive Wound Dressing?

Before Applying:

  • Follow hospital protocol to prepare the catheter insertion or wound dressing site.
  • If needed, clip excess hair at the site for better dressing adhesion.
  • Shaving is not recommended.
  • Ensure all preparation liquids are completely dry before applying the dressing.

Application Steps:

  • Open the package and take out the Medipore +Pad Soft Cloth Adhesive Wound Dressing.
  • Peel off the paper liner to expose the adhesive surface.
  • Place the dressing over the wound or catheter insertion site and apply it.
  • Smooth down the edges and securely seal around the catheter or wound. Press the adhesive border firmly onto the skin.
  • Change the dressing if exudate (fluid) penetrates through the soft cloth backing.
  • To remove, gently grasp the edge and slowly peel the dressing from the skin in the direction of hair growth.

Warnings

  • Do not use Medipore +Pad to replace sutures or other primary wound closure methods.
  • Change the dressing if it is not intact. An intact dressing is one that is properly applied with good adhesion.
  • Monitor the site for signs of infection, such as pain, fever, swelling, redness, or unusual odor or discharge. If infection is suspected, remove the dressing and take standard precautions.

Precautions

  • Ensure hemostasis (stopping bleeding) at the catheter site or wound before applying the dressing.
  • The skin should be dry and free of detergent residue for good adhesion.
  • Avoid applying excessive tension to prevent skin trauma.

Medipore Storage and Shelf Life:

  • Store Medipore +Pad at room temperature (59-86 degrees F or 15-30 degrees C).
  • Check the expiration date on each package for shelf life information.
