How to Apply Allegiance Transparent Film Dressing?    Choose the appropriate dressing according to wound size. Prepare the site according to institution’s protocol. Open package and remove sterile dressing. Peel release liner from dressing exposing the adhesive surface.

How to Remove Allegiance Transparent Film Dressing?

 

  1. Gently grasp an edge and slowly peel the dressing in the direction of hair growth. To aid in lifting the dressing edge, secure a piece of medical tape to one corner and rub firmly. Use the tape as a tab to help slowly peel back the dressing
  2. For removal from IV sites or other devices, grasp one edge of the dressing and gently pull straight out to stretch and release adhesion. Care should be taken not to dislodge catheters or other devices or to disrupt wound surface during removal
  3. Avoid skin trauma by peeling the dressing back, rather than pulling it up from the skin. Support the skin and the catheter while removing the dressing.
    Note: If the dressing adheres to the wound surface, it can be gently soaked off
  4. To aid in lifting the dressing edge, secure a piece of medical tape to one corner and rub firmly. Use the tape as a tab to help slowly peel back the dressing. Proceed with step one to remove the remainder of the dressing

Precautions to take while using Transparent Dressing?

  • Stop any bleeding at the site before applying dressing.
  • Do not stretch the dressing during application as tension can cause trauma to the skin.
  • Transparent dressing should not be re-sterilized.
  • The dressing may be used on an infected site, only when under the care of a health care professional.

Warning: Do not use the dressing as a replacement for sutures and other primary wound closure methods.
