Silverlon Calcium Alginate Dressing Advanced Antimicrobial Alginate Wound Dressing is a sterile, non-woven pad composed of a High M (manuronic acid) alginate and a silver nylon contact layer. The silver ions provide an antimicrobial barrier which protects the dressing from bacterial contamination.

How to use an Argentum Silverlon Alginate Dressing?

 

Treating wounds with alginate dressings is an easy process if you follow the correct wound care procedure using following steps:

  • Clean the wounded area with normal saline solution
  • Pat dry the around the wound
  • Place the Argentum Silverlon Alginate Dressing around the wound
  • Secure alginate dressing with a secondary dressing to hold it in place
  • Frequency of changing the dressing should be every one to three days, or when fluid starts to seep out from edge of the dressing.
  • While changing the alhinate dressing, use saline to dampen it, so damage of surrounding skin can be minimized.

 

Warnings:

 

  • Do not use past expiration date on the product packaging.
  • Do not use if pouch is damaged or open.
  • Clinicians or healthcare professionals should be aware that there are very limited data on prolonged and repeated use of silver-containing dressings, particularly in children and neonates.
  • Do not use petroleum-based ointments or creams under Silverlon CA dressing.
  • Silverlon CA dressing may adhere to tissue if used on lightly exudating wounds.


Contraindications:

  • Silverlon CA dressing is latex free.
  • Avoid using on patients with known sensitivity to silver, nylon or alginates.
  • Silverlon CA dressing is not intended for use on 3rd degree burns.
  • Silverlon CA dressing is not intended for use to control heavy bleeding.
  • Do not moisten Silverlon CA dressing with hydrogen peroxide or povidone iodine.
