When to use Convatec Aquacel Foam Dressing?

  • Can also be used on a wide range of acute and chronic wounds that produce moderate to high volumes of exudate, including leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, burns, traumatic injuries such as pretibial lacerations, surgical wounds healing by secondary intention, donor sites and for exudate management in fungating tumours
  • Can be applied to wounds producing lower volumes of exudate, such as skin tears, minor lacerations and cuts and left in situ for a maximum wear time of seven days
  • Suitable for a wide range of acute and chronic wounds producing exudate, regardless of the tissue within the wound bed
  • May be used immediately post-injury/wound breakdown and continued until healing, however, once a wound ceases to produce any exudate it will no longer be appropriate and an alternative dressing, such as a thin hydrocolloid, may be used

How to remove Aquacel Adhesive Dressing?

  • The dressing should be changed when clinically indicated (i.e. leakage, bleeding, increased pain, suspicion of infection). The AQUACEL Foam dressing maximum recommended wear time is up to seven days. The wound should be cleaned at appropriate intervals.
  • To easily remove the dressing, press down gently on the skin and carefully lift one corner of the dressing. Continue until all edges are free. Carefully lift away the dressing and discard it according to local clinical protocols.

How does Hydrofiber Technology work?

Hydrofiber Technology is a patented technology in which fibres of high-quality cellulose are carboxymethylated altering its structure to allow better absorbency and retention of fluid. These fibres are then processed to mesh them together to form a stable fleece layer. When exposed to fluid, the fibres swell to form a clear, soft, cohesive gel structure that closely conforms to the wound bed.

Locks Exudate & Traps Bacteria

How Hydrofiber Technology Works?

Helps protect peri-wound skin and reduce maceration. It may help to minimize wound and cross-infection during removal

Micro-Contours to Wound Bed

How Hydrofiber Technology Works?

Minimizes “dead space” where bacteria can grow. It maintains moisture balance in the wound bed

Responds to wound fluid levels

How Hydrofiber Technology Works?

Forms a cohesive gel when in contact with exudates. It provides rapid and sustained antimicrobial activity on demand (dressings with ionic silver)
